Whisher is a software product offering free wireless Internet around the world and per minute access to thousands of commercial locations, such as hotels, airports or convention centres. I invented the concept, patented it and developed it, allowing individuals to share their wireless connection at home with others, in a safe, scalable and hardware-less fashion. Founded the company, raising more than 2m⬠of private equity funding, from Benchmark Capital and Swisscom. Hired a world-class team to keep up with the challenge of building a lasting global software business. Setup international operations in Spain, Romania, Germany, Poland and United States. Actively run the product and project management functional roles, supporting the business development and marketing departments with the key partnerships. Sold the business to Seattle-based holding Wifi.com LLC, participated by venture capital inverstor Monster Venture Partners. Air Bites is a provider of communication solutions and information technologies. Built up the business as a Swisscom spin-off, raising corporate funds of more than 3mâ¬. Set up an advanced technical infrastructure to build the first European residential WiFi operator. Hired key personnel (technical support, sales, marketing, administration). Supported the fund raising activities within Swisscom, leading to the expansion of the business in some European Eastern countries (Romania, Bulgaria, Ukraine). Managed to convince reputed serial entrepreneur to fund Fon, initially thought as a joint venture between Mr. Varsavsky and Swisscom. Acted as interim CTO during the foundation of Fon, which would later get funding from Google, Skype, Sequoia and Index Ventures among others. Key achievements: ⢠transformation of a lab project into a real business with international scale ⢠0 to 0.5m⬠annual revenues in two years ⢠MBO (management buyout) by me, turning the company around, putting it in the black in one year ⢠Business exit, with sale to a Barcelona based holding (Grupo Monsan). UPDATE: Grupo Monsan completed the acquisition of Air Bites Spain in December 2008.
